Senator Mike Kowall
Serving his first term, Sen. Mike Kowall, R-White Lake, was elected to the Michigan Senate in November 2010. The lawmaker served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 1998 to 2002 and most recently was the supervisor of White Lake Township.
Kowall will chair the Senate Economic Development Committee; act as vice chair of the Senate Transportation Committee; and will serve as a member of the Senate Natural Resources, Environment and Great Lakes Committee and the Senate Reforms, Restructuring, Reinventing Committee.
A Michigan native, Kowall graduated from Henry Ford High School in Detroit and later attended Oakland Community College.
Before joining the Legislature, Kowall was president of Accurate Woodworking, Inc., a family-owned business, and served on White Lake Township Planning Commission for nine years.
Kowall lives in White Lake with his wife Eileen Kowall, who currently represents residents of the 44th House District. The couple has two daughters, Marissa and Stephanie; a son-in-law, Tom; and a granddaughter, Madeline.
The senator is a member of Holy Spirit Church in Highland; the Polish Coalition of Republicans; National Federation of Independent Business; Michigan Association of Homebuilders; Michigan Chamber of Commerce; Michigan Sea Cadets and U.S. Naval Sea Cadets; Michigan United Conservation Clubs; Multi-Lakes Conservation Association; National Rifle Association; North Oakland County Board of Realtors; Safari Club International; Southeast Michigan Bowhunters; Waterford Business Association; White Lake Business Association; Waterford Cultural Council; Waterford Lions Club; Waterford Optimist Club; and the White Lake Historical Society.
