The Senate Democratic Caucus is the central support staff for all of Michigan’s Democratic State Senators. Interns will work with policy and communications staff to analyze legislation and create communications products to help further the message and agenda of Senate Democrats. Possible intern assignments include:
- Research background information for policy and communications staff;
- Assist with bill analyses;
- Write first drafts of press releases, newsletters, website text, and talking points;
- Monitor media coverage;
- Monitor Senate session;
- Attend committee meetings and press conferences;
- Assist with events; and
- Administrative work including filing and answering phones.

Experience can be tailored to strengths and interests of individual interns. This is an unpaid position, but course credit may be available.
Qualifications: Undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in public policy, law, and communications.
Internships roughly match the college calendars. Opportunities are available for fall, spring, and summer.
