Resolution would require legislators to spend within states means

LANSING—Senators Mickey Switalski (D-Roseville) and Buzz Thomas (D-Detroit) introduced Senate Joint Resolution S in the State Senate today that would amend the Michigan Constitution to institute a Pay-As-You-Go policy in the Michigan Legislature. Through Pay-Go legislation, any bill introduced that would increase costs or reduce revenues to the state would be required to also identify a source as to where that money comes from.

Senate Democrats Continue to Push for Help for Michigans Working Families

LANSING, Mich. Senate Democratic Leader Mike Prusi (D-Ishpeming) called for action today on state legislation that upholds the priorities outlined by President Barack Obama in his first State of the Union speech last night. In the President's speech, he called for continued assistance for the unemployed, renewed efforts for job creation, more stringent regulations of big banks, and decreased government spending and increased transparency.
