LANSING, Mich. Following Governor Granholms State of the State address tonight, Senator Glenn S. Anderson emphasized the need to pass legislation to create jobs and jumpstart the economy, rein in state spending and reform government, and help struggling Michigan families. In her speech this evening, the Governor addressed the states economic challenges and the need to diversify the economy, outlined her proposal for government reforms, and urged the Legislature to help protect the hard-earned dollars of Michigans working men and women.
Sen. Anderson Co-sponsors Pay-As-You-Go Resolution to Stop Government Overspending

LANSING, Mich. State Senator Glenn S. Anderson co-sponsored legislation introduced in the Senate today that would amend the state constitution to require the Michigan Legislature to operate under a Pay-As-You-Go policy. Senate Joint Resolution S would mandate that any bill introduced that would reduce revenues or increase costs to the state would also be required to identify where that money will come from.
Senator Anderson Helps Pass Legislation to Keep Michigan Drivers Safe

LANSING, Mich. State Senator Glenn S. Anderson voted today to pass legislation that will ban texting while driving in Michigan, keeping our roads safe from distracted drivers. Senate Bill 402 establishes a ban on texting while driving a motor vehicle and Senate Bill 468 provides the enforcement guidelines for the offense. First time violators will be subject to a fine of $200, while subsequent violations will result in a $500 fine.
